App of the Week: Math Bingo
This article marks the start of a new series here at T-GAAP. Each week I will highlight a new or updated application for either the Mac or iOS.
This week I will be highlighting an education application for the iPad called Math Bingo. Both of my kids are in early elementary school and are working to improve their skills. I was unsure about the application at first, but it was only $.99, so it was an easy decision to give it a try.
This application may not look great to adults, but kids sure love it. This game gives the child a math question (e.g. 4 + 6 =) and they need to find where the correct answer is on the bingo card. If they click on the correct answer, a cute looking bug appears on that square in the bingo card. Questions can use addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, depending on what the child decides. They keep figuring out the math questions until they get bingo. If they can get bingo fast enough, the user will receive a virtual bug to play with. They can click to see their collection of bugs all in a container together and they can shake it around and watch the bugs move around. There are many different types of bugs to collect and the kids like trying to improve their score and collecting more bugs to play with.
If you have a son or daughter in elementary school trying to improve math, this is a great application to purchase and it is only $.99.
