Finally, Someone's Making Sense! iPad 3 To Be Thinner Than iPad 2
Cult of Mac claims to have learned from their visit to CES that iPad 3 is going to be thinner than the iPad 2. This information flys in the face of a cadre of far east rumors claiming the contrary. Cult of Mac is keen to point out that Apple creating a thicker iPad woud be bucking a trend in their iOS device world, having always made device after device, thinner and thinner and thinner.
Only from the mouths of our trustworthy DigitTimes foks (yes, that's heavy sarcasm) have we learned that the iPad 3 was to be slightly thicker than that of the iPad 2... What makes far more sense is an iPad 2 wanna-be, perhaps from Samsung or Google, would be slightly thicker than an iPad 2. Meanwhile, the logical assumption is that Apple – yet again – will scream by their competition with a svelt iPad 3, dominating the space for at least another year.
Rumors as to why the iPad 3 would be thicker than an iPad 2 were always puzzling. The iPhone 4 was barely thicker than that of the iPad 2, and yet it sports a Retina Display in an amazingly small space. Going technical for a moment, there is no reason a denser pixel count requires a discernably thicker display, yet rumors from the far east were illuding to such a consequense. Balloney.
It is refreshing to see someone come forth with what is apparently a far more logical story regarding the design of the forthcoming iPad. I'll take a case makers claims over that of Digitimes any day of the week. Granted, both unreliable, but at least case makers aren't spouting wild rumors on a daily basis...
And really, the whole thinner thing makes perfect sense when looking at our society. As the western world continues to get fatter, doesn't it stand to reason that we require thinner devices to fit into the ever diminishing space within our clothing?
