2011 has come and gone. During the year we saw the new iPhone 4S, a major MacBook Air upgrade, the iPad 2, and a minor MacBook Pro upgrade. It was a great year for Apple fiscally, but sad as it saw the death of Steve Jobs.

Now that 2012 is here, it is time to look ahead and see what the future brings. Apple will continue to shine like a bright star as they release upgrades to their top products. The crystal ball shows the folllowing things happening this year.

  • Apple will release the iPad 3 around the end of January or beginning of February. The iPad will ship around the end of February or beginning of March. It will include a bigger battery, retina display, and a quad core ARM processor.
  • iPhoto for the iOS will be released with the iPad 3. iCloud will be a big part of iPhoto for both iOS and the Mac.
  • iPhone has replaced the iPod in Apple’s annual schedule. It will come in the Fall with a major redesign. This new version will have a 4-inch screen and the same processor as the iPad 3.
  • Apple will update the MacBook Air in the Spring. This new version will include a 15-inch display along with the current 13-inch and 11-inch. Intel’s Ivy Bridge processor and graphics chip will continue to push the performance barrier.
  • Apple TV will be updated when Apple releases their HD TV. The HD TV will have the Apple TV built-in with an iSight camera and Microphone for FaceTime. The Apple TV will not run applications, but it will continue to become one with the iPhone and other iOS devices.
  • The Mac Pro will finally get a major design change and significant performance upgrade.
  • MacBook Pros will also have major design changes this year. The disc drive will be ejected, and the solid state drive will be added. The hard drive will stay for more capacity for pro users.
  • iPods will see only minor style changes. The Classic iPod will stay, but the Shuffle will go.
  • Aperture 4 will be released with an iPad companion.
  • The iJacket will finally be released to the public, oh wait, that is 2020.

Apple has been busy in the workshop and they are coming out with some pretty cool new products in 2012. It should be a fun year for Apple fans.
